House a Family, Have Some Beer
The Family & Senior Homeless Initiative -- a key player in Denver's efforts to fight homelessness -- has 17 families in urgent need of a very special Christmas gift: A place to live.
We recently completed our second sponsoring of a family in the FSHI program, and giving these working families a little help to get them off of the street has been very rewarding for us. It's been important help for the city's noble efforts, too.
So we've created a little offer to hopefully inspire a few big-hearted businesses to help these 17 families and become real-life angels this holiday season.
Here's our "A Home for the Holidays" offer:
Your company signs on to sponsor an FSHI family. You provide FSHI with $1200 (to cover the family's crucial first month of rent and a one-month security deposit).
Your staff carries out a handful of mentoring meetings over the next few weeks, in which you offer support and help your family set up and manage its budget and become self sufficient.
If your company will do that, we'll provide a month's worth of beer to all mentoring team members. We'll enter all of the mentors for those 17 families in a drawing for a year's worth of Wynkoop beer.
And we will provide a complimentary holiday meal at Wynkoop for your sponsored family and your mentoring team. And hug you several times.
Will you answer the FSHI call and take us up on our offer?
Read about FSHI and get details on what mentors do.
I'll be glad to tell you about my experience as a mentor if you have questions. (It's easy, fun, very satisfying.)
Or you can contact FSHI director Andrew Neal directly at aneal@denrescue.org and 303.953.3934.
If your business dreams of playing the Santa role in a meaningful fashion this year, here's your big chance
