Wynkoop Hosts Beers Made by Walking Event

12 Sep

Tuesday, October 9th from 5-9pm at Wynkoop Brewing (1634 18th St. in Denver), Wynkoop is hosting the Denver debut of Beers Made By Walking.

Beers Made By Walking is a program started by Colorado Springs art professor Eric Steen that invites brewers to make beer inspired by nature hikes and urban walks. “Along the hike,” Steen says, “the brewers identify edible and medicinal plants and use them as ingredients in special beers. Each walk is different and each beer is a drinkable landscape portrait of that walk.”

For the event Wynkoop will be serving ten BMBW creations upstairs on our second floor. Attendees can purchase ten sample tickets at the door for $15, each ticket is good for a 3-oz BMBW beer. Attendees also get a special sampling glass made for the event. The beers will be served in the upstairs bar at Wynkoop.

“You'll get to taste,” Steen says, “a portrait of the Animas River in Durango, the Palmer Lake Reservoir Trail south of Denver, and a beer inspired by the canyon walls of the Eldorado Creek. If you haven't made it to one of the beautiful trails in Colorado,” he adds, “you can still experience these beautiful places through Beers Made By Walking.”

The beers will be available for one night only in Denver at this event.

About Beers Made By Walking

Steen began the program in Colorado Springs in 2011 with the hopes of using beer to inspire others to look at their local landscapes in fresh and community-minded ways. Since then it has expanded into multiple cities/states including Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. Please see beersmadebywalking.com for more information.
